Elbrook Music Studio Policy 2024

This policy is in place to protect the student, the parent, and the teacher, and serves to ensure that lessons run smoothly and without conflict. Remember that, while taken seriously, music lessons are meant to be enjoyable as well as educational. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy or your/ your child’s lessons, please do not hesitate to contact me.

STUDENT & FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES

Students agree to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared, and with their assignment books and music. To make good progress, daily quality practice is encouraged. I want you to completely understand every assignment. Please ask questions!

All students are encouraged to play at the two recitals we have each year: the Halloween Recital and the Spring Recital.

TUITION

Elbrook Music Studio tuition is $144 per month. The total number of annual lessons is divided into equal payments for consistency. Tuition is the same every month although the number of lessons per month may vary. Some months have 5 lessons, while others may only have 2 or 3.

This all-inclusive monthly tuition also covers recital costs, copies of music from the teacher’s library, recordings, and other materials that may be provided from time to time. Aside from lesson books that need to be purchased individually, there will be no additional fees for your music lessons at any time.

Tuition is charged to the student/parent’s card each month in advance and is non-refundable.

ABSENCE AND MAKE-UP LESSONS

Regular lesson attendance is a vital part of a student’s musical growth.

Please do not bring your student to lessons if they have any cold or flu symptoms, including no fever for at least 24 hours. Notify Teacher Emerson as early as possible to discuss options. Zoom lessons are generally the best alternative during illness if the student is feeling up for it.

Another option is a video swap for feedback. If a student has a conflict with a lesson time, they can record their pieces and submit them for feedback to be reviewed during their regular lesson time slot. Teacher Emerson will then record a feedback video to aid in practicing for the upcoming week.

Due to the fullness of our studio schedule, there will be no make-up lessons or reschedules given during the school year. To accommodate student vacations, students may reschedule during the summer months (see calendar below to review summer lesson details).

CANCELLING OR DISCONTINUING LESSONS

If the instructor needs to cancel lessons for illness or otherwise, sick days are calculated into tuition and the students will be notified in advance as soon as possible. If a student wishes to discontinue lessons, please give 30 days notice. Elbrook Music Studio reserves the right to suspend or discharge a music student at any time for inappropriate behavior, which includes, but is not limited to, disrespectful or uncooperative behavior, abusive verbal or physical conduct, or repeated violation of studio rules or policies by the student or by their parent or family members.

2024 CALENDAR

Spring Recital: 3/17

Spring Break: 3/25 – 4/5

Summer Break: 7/1 – 7/12

Halloween Recital: 10/27

Fall Break: 10/28 - 11/1

Thanksgiving Break: 11/25 - 11/29

**Summer: While music lessons are year-round, more scheduling flexibility is added during summer break in order to work around student and teacher vacation schedules. During June and July, students may choose to continue weekly half hour lessons, combine two weeks into one hour-long lesson, vary lesson days and times to work around travel schedule, submit for a video swap, or attend Zoom lessons. Students must continue lessons during summer months if they wish to save their spot on the calendar for the fall. Choosing to skip a month at any time during the year opens the possibility that your time slot will be given to someone on our studio waiting list. Monthly lesson fee remains the same during the summer.
